Phumzile has a commercial and public law practice with a special focus on administrative law, constitutional law, competition law, delictual and contractual disputes.
Prior to being called to the Bar in February 2022, Phumzile spent two and a half years clerking for the Judiciary of Seychelles in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. On a part time basis, she lectured in the Seychelles Bar Course, and in the University of Seychelles’ LLB programme offered through the University of London. Phumzile also clerked at the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein for a period of two years. Before her stint at the SCA, Phumzile was a practicing attorney at Cheadle Thompson & Haysom Inc in Johannesburg, specialising in Labour law, Mining, Administrative law and general commercial litigation.
Phumzile holds an LLB from the University of the Free State, and an LLM in International and Comparative Law from Trinity College Dublin, in Ireland. Her Master’s focused on EU Administrative and Human rights law, comparative constitutional law, and International economic law.
